Apple clips and stopmotion

Multimedia refers to the combination of words and graphics to create anything such as a presentation, video, animation and so on (Mayer,2020). Multimedia is a great way that students can express their creativity using a digital outlet. Multimedia, allows for a way for students to express and communicate ideas or understandings of learning in class through a creative capacity (ACARA, n.d.).

Multimedia can be implemented in a wide range of subjects and can be a suitable way for the educator to assess students' learnings in another space rather than traditional testing avenues. It can also be a great solution to create engaging learning experiences for your students, through producing information in a way that will captivate them to actively participate in new knowledge (UKEssays,2018).

One application that students can interact with is stop motion, which allows students to make a frame by frame movie. It teaches students the ability to produce a movie in a sequence format and allows them to express creativity through the movie creation process. Stop Motion also allows students to develop patient skills by producing a movie frame by frame.

Another great tool that students can interact with is Apple clips which is a free IOS 11 application. This application is another way to introduce multimedia creativity in the classroom. This application is extremely easy to use and allows students to imbed various multimedia such as images or sound. Apple clips also have a variety of different features for students to become familiar with which makes the application extremely enjoyable for students to navigate (Xochitl, n.d.). This application could be utilised to assess multimedia creativity by providing students with the task of creating a weather report for example. Each group can create their own personalised video which would allow them to increase team building skills whilst interacting with highly engaging material to stimulate digital creativity.

When implementing applications like these into the classroom, explicit teaching may be needed to initially introduce but both examples are very easy to understand. Teachers may need to ensure students stay focused when producing their videos due to all the different features such as stickers in the application, but overall multimedia and digital creativity would be advanced through these tools.
